help threadcome here for any questions you have about anything pic related.
i'm having some trouble making a lightning effect. i'm a noob, and i figured this was sort of the next step. i follow the tuts exactly, but it doesn't come out right. for starters, it says to go to filter, render, and hit cloud to make clouds come up. but, when i do that, a blank gray screen comes up. i eventually decided to just move on. the next step you hit something called Difference clouds, but when i do that, it just turns pure black. i invert it like they say, and now i have a pure white pic. i adjust the light levels like they say, but it doesn't do anything. wtf? am i doing something wrong? can anyone explain this better or something?

Unfortunatly I think the rest of us are just as stupid with this...

First you have to use a gradient on your canvas, any two colors will work, after that you will be able to create the cloud renders, but as you said, on a solid color it will only turn the canvas a different color.
